Smooth Stone

Tucker’s Smooth Stone is a very smooth and plastic clay with no grog or coarse clay in the formula. It is designed as a smooth throwing body but it is also used for handbuilding when a clean surface is required. Smooth Stone is a good compromise between stoneware and porcelain. It has a higher expansion which will help prevent crazing in glazes. This clay fires to a light grey in reduction and greyish-cream at Cone 10 oxidation.
